Sophie Benghozi is a mixed-media painter based in Montreal, Canada.

Drawing inspiration from abstract expressionists, she combines acrylic paint with collage and image transfers to emphasize the expression of inner emotions and subjective responses through gestural, expressive brushwork, vibrant colors, and abstract motifs.

Her work explores the tension between control and spontaneity, layering materials like oil pastel, silk paper, and spray paint to create rich, textured surfaces that invite close looking. Each piece is a dialogue between intention and accident.

Sophie works from her studio in Montreal, where she continues to develop her practice across large-scale canvases.
